About

Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at twenty or eighty

Henry Ford

My name is Marco Arena. I am an Italian Computer Engineer and a community lead. I work in the Formula 1 Industry.

I was born in Rome in 1987 and I lived there until 2011 when I moved to Maranello and joined Scuderia Ferrari as a Software Engineer and C++ Specialist.

I am eager for sharing and hearing from others: in 2013 I shaped ++it, the Italian C++ Community, and in 2016 and 2017 I received the Microsoft MVP award.

My vision on software development resembles a quote by Bruce Lee: “The best programmer is someone who can adapt on any style“. Indeed, I love experimenting with new languages and technologies, even if my heart belongs to C++!

 Growing Up

I really like telling stories.

In 2011 I signed up for WordPress and I created this blog. I had graduated just a few months earlier and I was felling I was growing up. Hence I named this blog Growing Up, deciding to tell my “stories of growth”: technical experiences and professional anecdotes on personal development – the latter, alas, not as much as I would like.
